Perry and Preparation H

July 28, 2009

Ok… This is a good note to come back to on the blog.  I read this blog post by Perry Noble and he puts into words something I love teaching and sharing with about.  The fact that we need each other.  We ALL need people to confide in, trust, and share heartaches, pain, struggles, and successes with.  Please take a moment to read Perry’s post on “Preparation H and Confession”.  He puts community and the fact that we need people to walk this journey with us in some really great words.  Enjoi.

In Psalms 1 it says that the person who doesn’t sit in the council of the “ungodly” are blessed.  Or in other words, those that aren’t taking advice, patterning themselves after, or going the same direction of the ungodly are blessed.  It is important that we all make sure that the people that re influencing are lives are connected to Jesus.  Jesus said himself in the scripture that “I am the way, the truth..”  If we are looking to answer from those that don’t know Jesus, then we probably won’t go the “right way.”  If we are sharing are deepest emotions and struggles, while looking from uplifting and strength from those that aren’t following  Jesus, then we won’t receive the right help to lead us in the “way.”

Listen.  Surround yourself with passionate Christ-followers.  The scripture says that “blessed are those that don’t sit in the council of the ungodly” but I would venture to say that the person who sits in the council of the godly will be blessed.  Who influence’s you?  Are your five closest friends following Jesus?  Are your great mentors following Jesus?  Is the person you are pursuing a relationship with following Jesus or are they part of that ungodly council?

If we want our lives to go the right way, then we have to surround ourselves with people going the right way.  Don’t expect a friendship or a relationship to be healthy, good, or blessed if it isn’t in Christ, or if you both aren’t following Jesus.  Sure it can be good.  But it won’t be everything your emotions and desires want it to be.  You have to be going the same “way.”   So why not follow “The Way.”  Jesus…
